The Sugar Free Podcast is a place where Millenial women gather to exchange real-life advice through raw, honest, unfiltered (sugar free) conversations. Because let’s face it, adulting is way harder than it looks on television and we could all use a little help figuring this thing out. Each episode, show host, Sydnee Mack, explores a variety of topics that are important to Millennial women from careers, to dating, starting families (or not) , financial security and mental health. Each topic is covered through interviews with dynamic guests who are experts in their fields by way of education, scholarship, work experience and/or lived experience. Each guest offers actionable advice, tools, resources and strategies to help Millenial women create the lives that they want verses the lives that were crafted for us by our parents, haters and society. Show host, Sydnee Mack, Esq., is a Millennial lawyer, professor, entrepreneur, best-selling author and woman who uses her knowledge and experience to lead entertaining conversations with vulnerability, curiosity, compassion and humor (lots of it).

SHOW NOTES
Why does looking polished and put together matter?
The halo effect: According to research, good-looking people are more likely to be employed, are paid higher wages, more likely to be approved for a loan, more likely to negotiate better terms for a loan and are more likely to have attractive and higher paid spouses.
Upon a first impression, good looking and well dressed people are presumed to have highly desirable personality traits and/or characteristics such as altruism, stability and intelligence as if beautiful people have an invisible halo hanging over their heads. It is important to look your best to take advantage of the positive perceptions associated with looking good.
What is personal style?
Personal style is your ability to express who you are with what you wear.
How do you cultivate style?
Focus on figuring out who you are and then determine how you can communicate who you are through your clothes.
What are the different style personalities/classifications that we can use to try to define our style?
- Classic
- Creative
- Casual
- Sexy
- Dramatic
What are the different body type classifications?
There are generally 3 areas where women tend to carry their weight, in their bust, their waist or their hips. Determine where you carry the majority of your weight to figure out the general shape/type of your body.
What are some tips for dressing each body type?
Focus on how to disguise or balance out the areas of your body where you carry the most weight or that you want to draw the most attention to. For example, if you carry most of your weight in your waist (around your middle), you may want to consider wearing a top or jacket with shoulder pads or puffy sleeves to draw attention away from your middle to your shoulders and to balance out the proportions of your body.
Is black the most slimming color that you can wear?
No, color does not determine how your shape looks. How a garment fits including the material and cut of the fabric is the most significant factor in determining how your shape looks.
How do you elevate your wardrobe?
Once you have determined your style personality, find brands and stores that fit your style personality even if those brands are out of your current budget. If those brands fall outside of your current budget, determine how you can shift your spending habits to better align with the brands that you want to wear. For example, if you have allotted $1200 per year for your wardrobe, instead of spending $300 on 20 items every quarter, consider spending $150 on two items every quarter. By the end of the year, you’ll have invested in 8 high-quality pieces.
